Summer is surely here in Japan, with the humid and scorching weather.
Store front people sprinkling water in the morning to cool the street or road in front of their shops. People cutting the beautiful Japanese seedless watermelons to clinch their thirst. Summer festivals sponsored by the local temples and shrines. Morning glory plants and Chinese lantern plants sold at Temple fairs, yes summer is here to stay for couple of months.
But don’t forget those lovely rings of wind chimes echoing in the hot air made either by iron, bamboo and of course the hand blown glass chimes with colorful drawings painted inside.
There is a festival during the summer in Kawagoe just focusing on Windchimes. At the Enmusubi Kawagoe Hikawa Jinja is the place to visit. During the end of June to mid September, enjoy the wonderful display on the grounds of the shrine. When the wind blows , you will hear music made by the chimes.
Forget the summer heat and enjoy.
