Three of Tokyo’s Top Shopping Spots

July 20, 2020

Simply put, Tokyo is a shoppers’ paradise. With options ranging from small boutiques to gargantuan shopping centers, there’s something for everybody. But when it comes to offering a diverse array of options in a unified location, there are a few places that rise above the rest. This is our ranking of the best three places to shop till you drop.

  1. Ginza Six

Opened in 2017, Ginza Six is a true landmark for luxury shopping centers in Tokyo. It has space for 241 stores, and is home to the flagship shops of Yves Saint Laurent, Fendi, Vivienne Westwood, and Van Cleef & Arpels. At this massive facility, there’s plenty to do when you’re not browsing the retail spaces. There are 24 restaurants and cafes, an elegantly appointed Noh theater, and a 4,000-square-meter rooftop garden with stunning views. You can also find temporary exhibits featuring the leading lights in the contemporary Japanese art scene.

  1. Roppongi Hills

One of the most recognizable features of the Roppongi area, this multi-use real estate development has everything from a TV studio and an art museum to movie theaters and parks. And, of course, plenty of great shopping. Whether you’re looking for sporty brands such as Adidas and Onitsuka Tiger or upscale options such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Balenciaga, you can be sure to find them at the shopping centers of Roppongi Hills. The open space at the base of Mori Tower, in the center of the complex, hosts a rotating lineup of popup events. Nearby luxury properties include the Homat Baron and the Homat Riviera.

  1. Tokyo Midtown

Located close to Roppongi and Nogizaka stations, this complex includes apartments, offices, museums, and the Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo. But one of its major draws is the Galleria, a four-story shopping center with plenty of high-end shops. The Galleria is an attractive place to shop: it has an airy central walkway, tasteful lighting, and wooden pillars that give the space an elegant, natural feeling. You can find the outlets of many major brands here, as well as chic boutiques catering to the stylish set. Properties for expats close to Tokyo Midtown include the Homat West and the Homat President.
